Golden Waffles® is the world’s largest supplier of waffle irons and waffle mixes for top hotels, universities, restaurants, and amusement parks. If you’ve ever had a waffle at a hotel, it was most likely a Carbon’s Golden Malted waffle.
Our waffles are distributed to over 60 countries, including Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sweden.
Our History
1937
Fred S. Carbon, founder of F.S. Carbon Company, began producing the world’s first enhanced flour – Golden Malted Pancake Flour. This was the first flour mixed with ingredients such as malt, sugar, and flavorings, leading to a patented process.
1946
Fred S. Carbon participated in the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show in Chicago, IL. Carbon’s became the second-oldest exhibitor, alongside Coca-Cola, and continues to participate in the event.
1970s
Carbon company decides to loan waffle irons to commercial accounts at no cost, providing they use only Carbon’s flour. This innovative marketing strategy is still used by Golden Waffles today.
1970s
Don Carbon, Fred S. Carbon’s successor, ran a syrup production and flour distribution facility in Florida. He was approached by Walt Disney World to produce syrup for their “Real Orange Drink™” as they prepared to open Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This marked Carbon’s first collaboration with Walt Disney World. Today, Carbon’s proudly supplies waffles and waffle cones to Walt Disney World.
1974
First Lady of the United States, Elizabeth “Betty” Ford, insisted that Carbon’s waffles be served in the White House and required them at every event where she spoke.
1990s
Carbon secured contracts with major national chains
1999
The New Carbon Company developed new RT (Retro) technology featuring a patented “auto-start” digital timer and LED display. This innovation included a lightweight stainless steel frame for easier handling.
2001
The company introduced the “self-serve” waffle concept for hotels offering complimentary continental breakfasts.
2004
Carbon’s waffle mix and baked goods were featured on popular television programs, including Emeril Live, The NBC Today Show, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
2008
The exclusive distributor for Poland and Central Europe was established, bringing Golden Malted products to the region.
2024
